The Windmill Cycling Club was started around 2012 by Maurice Warner who lives near Barley - we are called The Windmill Club, after Great Chishill windmill. The club meets twice weekly on Monday afternoons, for easy rides of around 20 miles, and on Thursday mornings for slightly longer but still generally easy rides of around 30/35 miles.
On Mondays we tend to meet at pubs such as The Tally Ho! in Barkway or The Bull at Lower Langley and on Thursdays we meet at various pubs within a radius of about 10 miles from Barley, and sometimes further afield in North East Essex or Suffolk.
All welcome. The focus is on convivial, social rides and no one ever gets left behind. There is minimal lycra on view! Ages range from late 40s to mid-70s.
